Peter Chamberlaine (1660s – 1718) was a British Commodore, assigned to fight piracy in the West Indies in the early 18th century alongside Governor Woodes Rogers.
Biography
During the early 18th century, Commodore Peter Chamberlaine was assigned to assist Governor Woodes Rogers with his reforms and helping him in issuing King George's pardon to pirates, allowing them to be absolved of their crimes. Chamberlaine, however, had a burning hatred for pirates, as well as for his civilian superior, and decided to take matters into his own hands.
