The Colle Palatino (English: Palatine Hill) was the most central of the Seven Hills of Rome, and one of the most ancient parts of the city.
It stood at 40 meters above the Roman Forum, looking down upon it on one side, and upon the Circus Maximus on the other.
According to Roman mythology, the hill was the location of the cave known as Lupercal where Romulus and Remus were found and kept alive by the she-wolf.
