Oviedo is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northwest Spain.
Around 1492, a sect of monks from a monastery in the Asturias mountains were captured by Inquisitors under the orders of Gustavo Ramírez and taken to the Inquisition's executioner in Oviedo.[1] The monks and the abbot were tortured in the slums of Oviedo until the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins rescued them, taking out the executioner in the process.[2]
