Otranto is a city and commune in southern Italy.
History
In 1321, Domenico Auditore and his family arrived in the Otranto harbor, where they were laying for anchor. There, they were ambushed by pirates hired by the Templars to retrieve the Codex. Domenico scattered the Codex over several chests to keep them out of the pirates' hands, after which he and his son managed to escape. His wife, however, was raped and murdered by the pirates.
