Annapolis Royal, originally called Port Royal, is a city in Nova Scotia, Canada.[1]
History
In the early 18th century, Annapolis Royal was the capital of the French colony of Acadia. The population grew thanks to new colonists arriving from Europe,[2] among them missionaries and soldiers from the French Army, with their ships clogging the port of Annapolis River.[3] The Welsh pirate Edward Kenway shipped rice to Annapolis Royal's market[2] and crates of tobacco and olive oil to the city's old chapel.[3]
