The Mycenaean Tomb of Ajax was the tomb of the mythological Greek hero, Ajax, located on the Isle of Salamis.

During the Peloponnesian War, the tomb was occupied by a group of bandits. The Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the tomb in search of Ajax's golden feather and also deciphered an ancient stele within.[1][2]

Trivia

  • In the myths Ajax’s body is never brought back to Salamis from Troy and 2nd century geographer Pausanias would later attribute a giant skeleton found near Sigeion to that of Ajax.
