The Murex Fort

The Murex Fort was a fort in Aphrodite's Watch on Kythera Island, Greece. Located between the Murex Dyeing Facility and Temple of Aphrodite, it was built to protect the region and was occupied by a sizable military force.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the place, as she had heard a god was trapped there.[1] Over the course, she raided the valuables held at the fort, set fire to the war supplies therein, and slew the leader of the army, as well as found and freed the 'god'.[1]
