Mount Ainos as seen from afar

Mount Ainos is a mountain located on the Greek island of Kephallonia, and its central region.

History

At some point in history preceding the 5th century BCE, a monumental statue featuring Zeus was set on top of the mountain.[1]

In around 431 BCE, Markos, a friend of the misthios Kassandra, bought a vineyard in the southern slopes of the mountain. On the other side of the mountain was the Aggalaki Cave, which had been taken over by wolves.[1]
