The Metropolitan Police Service, often known simply as "the Met", and sometimes as "Scotland Yard", after their headquarters, is a police force based in the city of London, United Kingdom. Headquartered at Scotland Yard, the Met was responsible for maintaining the peace through the city, and ensuring all laws were followed.

During the 1860s, a young Metropolitan Police officer named Frederick Abberline, who was looking to build his reputation, enlisted the aid of two British AssassinsJacob and Evie Frye – in solving a number of crimes.[1] Later still, in the 1880s, Abberline led the police investigation and pursuit of the infamous serial killer "Jack the Ripper".[2]
