A Master Assassin's attire is quite different from that worn by the other assassins. While they still have a hood with a beak-like design like the others, their robes are considerably longer, forming a bird-like "tail" whenever they perform a leap of faith or when they stand on a ledge. They have a waist belt that is considerably larger than those worn by other Assassins because it holds five throwing knives. There is also a container for throwing knives on the right shoulder and on the left boot. A sheath for a sword can be found attached to their waist belt by two straps. The left arm has armor that is bigger than the right, as it hides the hidden blade.

The rank of Master Assassin was on of the highest obtainable within the Assassin's Order.

In 1191, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad held the position before being demoted to novice following his failure beneath Solomon's Temple, but eventually regained it in time for his duels with Robert de Sable and Al Mualim[1]. One of his descendant, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, also obtained the rank, in 1499[2].

A Master Assassin was presumed to have reached the peak of his learning as an assassin; the rank garnered a large amount of respect from other members within the Order, and indicated individuals who posses uncommon skill and talent in both the arts of stealth and assassination. A Master Assassin was meant to embody the Creed; they will never harm an innocent, always hide in plain sight, and never compromise the Brotherhood[1].

Upon obtaining the rank, a Master Assassin was allowed to customise their attire. While they still possessed the beak-like design upon the hood, their robes were generally longer, forming a bird-like "tail" that fluttered whenever they perform a leap of faith or stood on a ledge. The color of their remained white, although they had the option of wearing black robes if they progressed to the final rank within the Order: Grand Master[3].
