The Ancient Sanctuary of Zeus was a ruined temple dedicated to the god Zeus located near the southern border of Lover's Bay on the island of Lesbos, Greece.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the place, finding that the ruins had been claimed by a group of bandits. She claimed their valuables, among them ancient tablets.[1]
