Mark Bonnar (born 19 November 1968) is a Scottish actor who portrays Edward Thatch in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Ceolwulf II of Mercia in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. He is best known for playing Bruno Jenkins in Casualty and Holby City, and has also appeared in The Bill, Paradox, Doctor Who, and Psychoville.
Bonnar initially believed he was auditioning for an animated series. A gamer, he was elated to learn he was actually being offered a part in a video game, although he had not played any of the Assassin's Creed series. He spent five days performing motion capture for the character. Bonnar had grown a large beard for a play when he had auditioned for the role, and had shaved it off when he started filming, much to Black Flag writer Darby McDevitt's disappointment. He also did additional voicework for the character in London.[1]
