Maria Theresa of Spain (1638 – 1683) was Queen consort of France through her marriage to Louis XIV.

In 1670, with the financial support of the Chancellor Etienne d'Aligre, Maria helped fund the Hospice des Enfants Trouvés in Paris with the aim of providing shelter to the abandoned children living on the streets.[1]
