Anastasius I Dicorus (Latin: Flavius Anastasius Augustus; Greek: Αναστάσιος; c. 431 – 518) was Byzantine Emperor from 491 until his death.

During his reign, Anastasius built the Cistern of Mocius on the Seventh Hill of Constantinople.[1]

Behind the scenes

Anastasius was nicknamed Dicorus (Greek: Δίκορος, "two-pupilled") as he had heterochromia, a characteristic of Sages.
