The Maniai were a group of spirits in Greek mythology, who personified insanity, madness, and crazed frenzy.
They worked closely with Lyssa, the spirit of rage and frenzy in animals. They were presumed to be daughters of Nyx.
Legacy
When Spartan misthios Kassandra travelled to Aletheia's simulation of Tartaros, she came across a cave dedicated to the Maniai. Several golden statues of the Maniai could be found in this cave, in which they shared a sea serpent tail with two dogs.[1]
