A Makhaira (Greek: μάχαιρα (mákhaira, plural mákhairai), is a type of ancient bladed weapon, generally a large knife or a sword with single cutting edge. The sword was commonly used in the Mediterranean, where it was sold by blacksmiths in ancient Greece.

The misthios Kassandra obtained or purchased numerous makhairai throughout the course of her journey during the Peloponnesian War.[1]
