Lóegaire mac Néill (died c. 462), also known as Lóegaire the Unrepentant, was a member of the Uí Néill who reigned as a High King of Ireland during the 5th century. He was one of the sons of Niall of the Nine Hostages, the progenitor of the Uí Néill dynasties.
Lóegaire was in possession of one of the figurines belonging to his father, which was one of the key to his most prized treasure, the Cú Chulainn Shield. Before his death, allegedly due to Saint Patrick's curse, Lóegaire passed the figurine down to his son Lugaid.[1]
