Louis the Younger (830/835 – 882), sometimes Louis III, was King of Saxony from 876 and Bavaria from 880 until his death in 882. He was the son of Louis the German who reigned as the first king of East Francia.

At some point during his reign, Louis befriended King Ælla of Northumbria and gifted a bardiche to the Anglo-Saxon king. This bardiche later ended up in a storehouse in the Jorvik Theatre.[1]
