Louis VI (1 December 1081 – 1 August 1137), named Louis the Fat, was King of the Franks from 1108 to his death.

During his reign, he oversaw the construction of various landmarks, such as establishing Les Halles in Paris. In 1130, he had the Holy Innocents' Cemetery built, and also saw to the construction of the Grand Châtelet stronghold, with the aim of the fortress to defend the Grand Pont bridge, later replaced by the Pont au Change.
