Nafpaktos (Greek: Ναύπακτος) is a port city in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece.
During the Renaissance, Nafpaktos was one of the territories of the Republic of Venice and was known as Lepanto by the Venetian.[1]
In 1499, the Ottoman Empire defeated Venice during the Battle of Zonchio and sized Lepanto, Modone, and Corone.[2]
