Laches the Eternal (died c. 420s BCE) was a mercenary who operated in Greece during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

Laches was a strong but simple man who was convinced that he was granted immortality by the gods since he had never been killed yet.  He named himself "the Eternal," instead of earning such a name, and had challenged others to prove whether he was truly immortal or not.

During the war, Laches crossed paths with the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
