Kamakura (鎌倉) is a city in the Kantō region of Japan, and was one of its historical capitals, having served as the Kamakura shogunate's center of power from 1185 to 1333.[1] When the shogunate was being consolidated, it was regionally understood that Kamakura was shōgun's home, even though the city itself was not known nationwide.[2]
