John Edgar Hoover (1 January 1895 – 2 May 1972) was the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States. He was appointed as the Director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924, and took an important role in the founding of the FBI in 1935, to which Hoover remained the FBI's director until his death in 1972.[1]
