Jean-Baptiste du Casse (2 August 1646 – 25 June 1715) was a French buccaneer, admiral, and colonial administrator.

A mariner in the French Navy, Jean was eventually joined by his young nephew, Julien in several skirmishes during the War of the Spanish Succession. In 1704, Jean fought in the Battle of Vélez-Málaga. Although Julien had been ordered by his superiors to join his uncle, he deserted instead.

Trivia

  • Much of Julien's background appears to be based on that of Jean.
