Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán ( 14 September 1913 – 27 January 1971) was a Guatemalan military officer who became the democratically elected president of Guatemala in 1951.

Due to the left-wing policies of his government, he was overthrown in a coup d'état orchestrated by the Central Intelligence Agency in 1954. The Agency however, was manipulated into doing so by Abstergo Industries, the front of the Templar Order, which sought to undermine Communism.
