This article is about the animal. You may be looking for Medunamun, also known as the Ibis.
A flying ibis in Egypt

The ibises are a group of wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae with slender necks and long, narrow, downward-curving beaks.

History

Ibises are commonly sighted in Attika, Greece, during the Peloponnesian War.[1]

Because of the distinctive appearance of their bills, the ibis symbolized the crescent moon in Egyptian culture, and by extension, Thoth, their god of wisdom, intelligence, and the Moon.[2]

Medunamun, a member of the Order of the Ancients acting as the Oracle of Amun in 48 BCE, operated under the cryptonym the Ibis.[2]

The Medjay Bayek of Siwa could sell ibis beaks to merchants for 5 drachmae each.[2]
