The Hôtel des Menus-Plaisirs is an hôtel particulier in Versailles.
History
The Hôtel des Menus-Plaisirs was constructed under Louis XVI of France to house the activities of the Menus-Plaisirs du Roi, an organization in charge of royal ceremonies and parties. The hôtel is best known for hosting the Estates-General of 1789.
During the French Revolution, it served as a courthouse, barracks and center for the distribution of bread. After it was purchased by a Mr. Dubusc in 1800, many of the historical rooms, including the assembly hall of the Estates-General, were torn down. Today, it houses the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.
