The Hôtel des Menus Plaisirs is an hôtel particulier in Versailles.
History
The Hôtel des Menus Plaisirs was constructed under Louis XVI of France to house the activities of the Menus-Plaisirs du Roi, an organization in charge of royal ceremonies and parties. The hôtel is best known for hosting the Estates-General of 1789.
During the French Revolution, it served as a courthouse, barracks and center for the distribution of bread. After it was purchased by a Mr. Dubusc in 1800, many of the historical rooms, including the assembly hall of the Estates-General, were torn down. Today, it houses the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.
