Alrekr Thorvaldson was a Jutish explorer who sailed north from Denmark in the early 9th century. He is an ancestor of the 21st century Assassin Shaun Hastings.
Biography
Alrekr had in his possession a wooden plank, carved with a map leading to the alleged location of Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. On his journey from Denmark, he ran aground at Stavanger, where he was defeated in combat by the ruling clan and enslaved for the next ten years of his life.[1]
Given the chance, Alrekr escaped his imprisonment and returned home to Jutland, where he married and eventually settled down. However, his map to Mjölnir was lost during his captivity.[1]
Legacy
In October 2014, his descendant Shaun Hastings researched his own genetic history in an attempt to discover if he had any Templar or Assassin heritage while he was researching how the Order of the Ancients transformed into the Templar Order. He found none, though Rebecca Crane noted Alrekr as being of minor interest.[1]
