Herod I of Judea (c. 74 or 73 BCE – c. 4 BCE or 1 BCE), also known as Herod the Great, was the Roman client king of Judea from 37 BCE until his death.

History

His rule being considered tyrannical, Herod's reign was opposed by the fledgeling Hidden Ones. In 38 BCE, Kawab, having just joined the Hidden Ones, made preparations to travel to Judea in order to help deal with Herod. Additionally, the Roman general Gaius Julius Rufio had planned to visit Herod in the hopes of securing an alliance with Cleopatra and Marcus Antonius, though he was assassinated by Bayek of Siwa before he could mae the journey.
