Hephaestus Email Network

The Hephaestus Email Network is an internet email service that is used by Desmond Miles in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. It is the Assassin Order's equivalent to the Abstergo Email Network. Using this service, Desmond can access emails sent to and by him via the laptop in the Villa Auditore hideout while outside of the Animus. Accessing his account will earn the player the "Mailer Daemon" achievement.

At a certain point in the game, Desmond receives an email from Erudito containing the passwords for Lucy Stillman's, Shaun Hastings' and Rebecca Crane's accounts, allowing him access to their sent, received and deleted emails as well as his own.

After the events in the Colosseum Vault, before Desmond relives the restored memories of 1506, he receives an email from an individual known only as William M. The email vaguely informs Desmond of his current situation, that his progress is being monitored by Rebecca, and to tell as few people as possible of their findings. Once Desmond has explored all the memories, he receives another email from William M., thanking him for his findings, and requesting him not to disclose the information with either Shaun or Lucy, as their security depends on it. Finally the sender informs Desmond that they will meet soon.

Trivia

• Hephaestus was the Greek god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes.
• The emails sent by William M. during the Da Vinci Disappearance memory sequence, only appear during a play through of the game and are accessible after the completion of sequence three. If the player has already completed the entire story, an alternative dialogue will occur when the DLC is accessed.
• The email is rarely important except for William M. and Erudito, other then that it's more of discussions about food, movies, etc.
