Biography
Power seizure
Henry won the throne when he defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field. He was the last king of England to win his throne on the field of battle. He was successful in restoring the power and stability of the English monarchy after the political upheavals of the Wars of the Roses.[1]
Struggle with the Templars
Since the start of his reign, Henry VII had attracted the attention of the Templars, who had planned to take over the English throne. They attempted to overthrow Henry, but the King had the secret Templars Lambert Simnel imprisoned and Perkin Warbeck hanged, who were two of the main conspirators.[2][3]
In 1503, the Italian Assassins offered to kill the last remaining Templar conspirator, Margaret of York, for King Henry, and he accepted their offer. They succeeded and found out that the Templars had infiltrated the Star Chamber, England's secret court. Eventually, the Italian Assassin apprentices sent by Ezio Auditore da Firenze found out which members of the Chamber worked for the Templars and reported their identities to the king. Grateful for their services, Henry kept one seat open for the Assassin Brotherhood.[2][3]
End of his reign
At the end of his reign, Henry founded a long-lasting dynasty and was peacefully succeeded by his son, Henry VIII, after a reign of 23 years.[1]
Legacy
Henry VII's descendants would go on to lead England for nearly a hundred years after his death, ending with death of his granddaughter Elizabeth I.[1]
However, Henry VII's relationship with the Assassins was not passed on to the next generations. Henry VII's granddaughter Mary I was eventually assassinated by the Assassins, and her half-sister Elizabeth I succeeded her, who ruled with the help of a Apple of Eden.[4]
