The Heavy Sword was a flat, double-edged sword used in 5th century BCE Greece. It weighed more than other, similar swords, earning it its name.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found this sword in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]

Behind the scenes
The Heavy Sword is a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey which shares the same model as the Spartan Training Sword, another weapon in the same game. Its design may be at least partially based on swords attributed to the late Bronze Age Urnfield culture (ca 1300 BC - 750 BC).
