The HMS Defiance was a frigate in His Majesty's Royal Navy during the early 18th century.[1]

The captain of the ship had killed a Dutch merchant, which prompted his friend, Milo van der Graaff to hire the pirate Edward Kenway to sink the HMS Defiance as an act of revenge.
