Alexios V Doukas (Greek: Ἀλέξιος Δούκας; c. 1140 – 1204), or Alexius V Ducas, reigned as Emperor of the Byzantine Empire briefly from February to April 1204.

Alexios was elected as Emperor on 27 January 1204, inheriting a severely weakened empire that had been plagued by an internal civil war within the reigning Angelos dynasty. Despite Alexios' attempts to rally and repel the city's occupation against the invading Crusaders,[1] the Byzantines rebelled against the emperor and the Crusaders invaded and sacked the city.[2] Alexios himself attempted to escape but was eventually captured and executed in December 1204.[1]
