Francis Kelly (c.1898-1915) was a British private who fought in World War I.

In September 1915, Kelly was deployed as part of the British Army at Loos-en-Gohelle, France. While there, Kelly wrote a letter to his mother, talking about the grim atmosphere and telling her he agreed that it was silly to enlist while being 17. He asked her to tell everyone the truth and have him brought home. Kelly was reported missing a week later and his body was never recovered.[1]

By 1916, Kelly's letter ended up in London, where it was recovered by the British Assassin Lydia Frye.[2]
