Biography

Early life

Alessandra d'Avanzago was born in 1487 to Cristina, an Assassin, and Sebastiano, a wealthy land owner. In 1501, when Alessandra just turned 12, her mother had dragged her father in a conspiracy against the Doge, Agostino Barbarigo, formerly an ally of the Assassins, turned traitor. Her father was immediately exiled while her mother was captured by the Templars and Barabarigo's soldiers.[1]

The Doge, pressured by the Templars, deciding to make an example of Cristina via her daughter, had Alessandra's tongue cut, to mark her family in infamy. Alessandra was then separated from her mother, who was never to be seen or heard of again. A few months later, the Doge ashamed of his actions, anonymously had Alessandra initiated into the Assassin Brotherhood.[1]

Joining the Brotherhood

One of the youngest initiates of the brotherhood, Alessandra was a fiercely independent but complete team player. She refused to let anyone treat her like a second-class human, neither because of her gender nor her forced muteness, and thus spends a lot of her time training and upkeeping her weapons and armors. Under pressure, she goes into survival mode, changing her in a highly focused, efficient and fearless Assassin.[2]
