Alektryon the Rooster (died c. 420s BCE) was a mercenary who operated in Greece during the Peloponnesian War.[1]
Biography
It is believed that Alektryon fought the best whenever he had his pet rooster by his side. He even loved telling a story of how he was saved from captors by that very same rooster. A number of witnesses claimed to have seen him freeing chickens where ever he went to repay his brave rooster. He resided on one of two small islands south of Naxos.
During the war, he crossed paths with Spartan misthios Kassandra.
