The Eye Patch was a simple leather patch worn over a damaged eye as early as the 5th century BCE Greece.
During the Peloponnesian War, the most notable person to wear this among various bandits, mercenaries, and others was the Cyclops of Kephallonia. He usually wore the Eye Patch when he didn't want to risk damage to or loss of his precious artificial eye made of obsidian.[1]
