The Elean witch was an elderly woman associated with the Followers of Ares inhabiting the Dyspontion Ruins in the 5th century BCE Elis, Greece.
At some point, the witch and her followers spied the Elean actor famous for his villainous roles, and captured him, believing him to be the reincarnation of his roles, and thus able to lead them into a glorious future. Unwilling and unable to do as they asked, the actor was kept tied up to change his mind while the witch concocted another plan.[1]
Bearing ill will towards the Eleans, the witch planned on poisoning the city's populace. However, she had failed to take into account the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
