Edward the Confessor (Old English: Ēadpeard Andettere; Latin: Edwardus Confessor; c. 1003 – 1066) was among the last Anglo-Saxon Kings of England who reigned from 1042 to 1066.
He fled England in 1014, returned to England in 1042 after more than 30 years of exile, and reigned there until his death in 1066.[1]
