Eagle Vision is a feature that has two different purposes in Assassin's Creed.
First, it can be used as a sort of sixth sense by Altair to view those around him in a discerning way. When you use the eagle vision, the camera perspective in the game switches to that of first person, and you see things from Altair's point of view. If you are fully synchronized with your Ancestor's memory when you use Eagle Vision, then the people around you are seen in different colors Each of the colors has a different meaning.
Red = Soldiers
White = People who have information
Yellow = Assassination Targets
Blue = Allies
Using Eagle Vision in this way, you can look around you to spot potential threats, or people you need to talk to in the course of your investigation.
The second use for Eagle Vision is for mapping out portions of cities and the Kingdom. To do this, you need to climb to the top of View Points. Once you are at the top of the view point use your Eagle Vision and you will be treated to a pretty 360 degree camera pan of your surroundings. Once this camera pan is done, your map will be updated. In cities, this is how you find the locations of other view points, people who you will need to pickpocket, interrogate, whose conversations you can eavesdrop, or people you can save. It will also tell you the locations of any Informants that happen to be near by.
