David Fanning (c. 1755 – 1825) was a Colonel in the British Army during the American Revolutionary War.
Fanning and Hector McNeill captured Thomas Burke, governor of North Carolina. The Colonial Assassins launched a rescue attempt, known as the Battle of Lindley's Mill, but failed to retrieve Burke.
