The Database was a collection of articles, written and compiled by Shaun Hastings for use within the Animus. The database held records detailing view points, assassination targets, and other things that Ezio Auditore da Firenze came across in during his lifetime, as they were viewed by Desmond Miles. [1] [2]
Maintenance
Assassin Shaun Hastings maintained the database, so whenever Ezio saw something of interest, he could flag the Database entry into Desmond's view, for the purpose of gaining greater knowledge about the subject of the entry.
Other Purposes
The Database marked the general locations of Glyphs and Assassin's Tombs, in Assassin's Creed II, as well as the general locations of Rifts and Romulus Lairs in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
Trivia
- The database commonly has false information on birth years. For example, Francesco de' Pazzi and Vieri de' Pazzi, who are father and son, are stated to have an age difference of 10. This is most likely an error on part of the developers, or, in-universe, Shaun.
- Some of the characters present in Assassin's Creed II do not appear in the database.
