The Santa Maria della Visitazione (English: Saint Mary of the Visitation), is a church in the Dorsoduro District of Venice.

History

The church was founded in the 15th century and was dedicated to Jerome, the patron saint of librarians and encyclopedia writers, though it was rededicated to the Virgin Mary's visit with Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist.[1]

At some point, the Assassin Leonius' remains were transported to a hidden tomb underneath the church, and were later discovered by fellow Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who retrieved Leonius' Assassin seal and returned it to the Sanctuary under Monteriggioni's Villa Auditore; combined with the other five seals, this would later grant Ezio the Armor of Altaïr.[2]
