Charles V (24 February 1500 – 21 September 1558), born Karl von Habsburg, was emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1519, and, as Charles I, of the Spanish Empire from 1516 until his abdication in 1556.
Charles played a vital part in the Italian Wars, and his forces sacked Rome in 1527, capturing Pope Clement VII.
In 2012, he was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[1]
