The Chalkidian Helmet was a type of helmet used in the 5th century BCE Greece. Originating from Chalkidiki, a part of Makedonia, the helmet bore a notable plume of red hair, reminiscent of the tail of a horse.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra commonly found this helmet in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece. It was also a favorite among bandits.[1]
