Caserma di Alviano was used by Bartolomeo d'Alviano as a barracks up until 1503. It served as the center for the military opposition against the Borgia forces, and the invading French forces, led by Baron Octavian de Valois. It later became a training ground for mercenaries, until it fell into disrepair, and was leveled during the expansion of Rome.
In 1960, it was suggested that Caserma di Alviano was to become the site of a memorial, but due to no one knowing the exact coordinates of the Barracks, it was decided that a park should reside there instead. Unfortunately, this project was never completed, and the land was sold for commercial use instead.
