The Bronze Axe was a common model of battleaxe forged from bronze prevalent in Egypt during the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Description
Although the Bronze Axe—aptly named for it was forged from bronze—was designed like a battlexe, it was not altogether a very effective one. For this reason, it was more suited for hacking down trees like a normal axe rather than for combat. Nevertheless, it could still suffice for self-defense given its lethality. The semi-circular head of this axe is the reason why an identical model was also called the Scalloped Head Axe. Its design also resembled that of the Common Battleaxe at the time since the circular blade was attached to the pole by the center and either ends of the head.
History
The Bronze Axe was widely prevalent as a cheap battleaxe of choice for Egyptian soldiers during the 1st century BCE.
