The common bow is ordinarily made up of some sort of wood, shaped as a moderately thin arc. The ends of this arc are connected with a tight string or cord, which is capable of withstanding high pressures. When the cord is pulled back, the flexible arc pulls with it, allowing the power necessary for shooting to be formed.{{WP-REAL|Bow and arrow}}

A bow is used to shoot projetiles, which in the case include several forms of arrows. The end of an arrow is notched, so that it can fit onto the string of the bow. When pulled back, the tension forces the arrow to fly, and eventually puncture its target with the help of a sharp tip.{{WP-REAL|Bow and arrow}}

The bow is a projectile weapon that has been used by many human civilizations, spanning over millennia.

Usage

Archers have been present since the Middle Ages, and into the Renaissance. They were commonly assigned as sentries for important locations, and used bows to attack trespassers from the rooftops.[1][2]

In battle, soldiers with bows were used to pick off enemies from a distance, or to defend their walls during sieges. In the Renaissance, crossbows became popular for this as well, however, a longbow was more effective if used by a skilled soldier.[3]

The Assassin Order used bows frequently, as they were silent, long-ranged weapons. Some Assassins, such as Perotto Calderon and Cipriano Enu, acquired great skill in it, and could kill targets from up to four rooftops away with a single arrow.[3]

During the American Revolutionary War, the Assassin Connor Kenway wielded the bow for both combat and hunting purposes, using it to kill assassination targets and animals.[4]
